ABOUT RIL

Resources for Independent Living is unique. We are the only organization in Sacramento providing services to people with all forms of disability. The majority of our policy-making board is comprised of individuals with disabilities. Therefore, our decision-making process is both innovative and highly effective, because we are, in essence, helping ourselves.

This is not to say that we see ourselves as different or separate from the rest of the community. Indeed, as we search for ways to assist our clients in creating the independent lives they long for, we are constantly discovering that true independence is really a matter of learning to live interdependently.

RIL is dedicated to providing services and support to disabled people, so they can live happy and productive lives. This is how RIL is redefining disability. We hope you will join us in our efforts on behalf of independent living.

Core Services
Resources for Independent Living are one of 28 Independent Living Centers located in communities throughout California. Although each center is autonomous, they all provide Core Services.

Transitional Living Center (TLC) Program
RIL's Transitional Living Center (TLC) program and facility assists disabled individuals' transition from dependent care situations to independent living in the community. The TLC program provides instruction in 9 curriculum areas of independent living: attendant management, nutrition/meal planning, self-advocacy, health and safety, sexuality awareness, money management, community resources, household management, and recreation and leisure.
