Your Rights! Protecting Yourself against Unsafe Living Conditions and Evictions
If you are a dependent adult living in the community, abuse and neglect can take many different forms, including when you are made to live in poor and unsafe living conditions, or when your landlord or home operator attempts to kick you out of your home suddenly and without cause. Rebuilding Together Sacramento
If you own your home, Rebuilding Together Sacramento can help to retrofit your home for accessibility. They also have a Home Energy Conservation program. “Our HEC program provides free Tier 1 energy upgrades for low-income homeowners in Sacramento County. The upgrades include weather-stripping, window and door caulking, water heater blankets, energy efficient lighting, and water-saving showerheads among others. These small changes can have a huge impact on the residents¹ power bills, as well as increasing their safety during a summer heatwave or winter freeze.”
