Description:

Sponsored in partnership with Sacramento County, these advocates work to ensure that the needs of mental health clients and families are being addressed in meaningful ways. Advocates oversee consumer/family affairs for individuals across the lifespan in Sacramento County and ensure consumer involvement in all aspects of community mental health services. Offered services are peer support, training opportunities, education, and peer support groups to the community. Description:

On-the-job training, vocational training, career training, basic skills, employment skills workshops, youth employment services, job search assistance and placement services are available to low-income Sacramento County residents ages 16 and older.

Employment and training opportunities include current job and internship openings, Employment Development Department services, referrals and recruitment services, electronic network of employment and training services, vocational training, and resume and interview preparation. Description:

A Family Resource Center (FRC) offering a variety of free programs to families with children up to the age of 18 that live within Sacramento County.

Major Programs:

  • Birth & Beyond In-Home Visitation – Assistance for at-risk families, that are pregnant or have children birth – 17 years old, improve their parenting skills in order to reduce instances of abuse and neglect in the community.
  • Parent Education – Workshops at the Family Resource Center are available at no charge that covers a variety of parenting issues.
  • Programs specifically for the 6 – 11-year age groups.

Men’s temporary shelter. Provides emergency shelter and meals (depending on availability) for 10 hours, starting at 8 pm that evening, until 6 am the following morning.

Residential Family Shelter – Volunteers of America

Description:

A residential shelter designed to accommodate individuals with children and families with children. Accommodations for 12 families including three meals provided daily. Support services including transportation to and from school, permanent housing referrals and educational and job-search information. The maximum length of stay: 120 days. TB test required. Tommy Clinkenbeard Legal Clinic – Loaves & Fishes

Description:

Provides free legal services at Loaves & Fishes to homeless people relating to infractions and misdemeanors in Sacramento County. The legal clinic also manages court-ordered community service sentences for homeless people to pay fines in lieu of incarceration. Community service workers provide trash pick-up, clerical assistance, or may be chosen to work in the kitchen, garden, warehouse or are chosen for special projects.

Assists those who have warrants, or tickets. Guests with non-criminal legal issues who have questions can also talk to the volunteer lawyers. Assistance with criminal record expungement. Screening for eligibility for public benefits, health care, veteran’s assistance, and low-income housing programs.

Public Defender Clinic offered monthly. A Public Defender comes to discuss legal concerns with clients and then schedules them for the Loaves & Fishes court at Sacramento Superior. It gives a guest court representation with a lawyer.

Description:

Provides assistance to all eligible indigent residents of Sacramento County who are at least eighteen (18) years of age, unemployed or verified unemployable and who have no other means of support. It is a re-payment program and is intended to provide short-term financial assistance and limited services that will enable a recipient either to find employment or to obtain support from another source.

Administers Titles II and XVI of the Social Security Act by processing applications for monthly cash benefits for:

  • Retirement benefits to workers over age 62 and eligible dependents (SS).
  • Disability Benefits [SSDI (also referred to as SSD)] to workers severely disabled prior to age 65.
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for the needy aged, blind, and disabled individuals.

Description:

Credit counseling and education programs available for personal money management and debt repayment, including home default, foreclosure counseling, and student loans. May intercede with creditors and others on behalf of the client to adjust or negotiate payments for debt management program. Workshops on topics related to credit, money management, bankruptcy, and housing issues. Evenings, Saturdays, and phone appointments are available. Counseling also available via the internet.

Free home loan default, foreclosure credit counseling is available by appointment (confidential, one-on-one). Reverse mortgage and bankruptcy counseling also available for a fee.

Description:

Provides assistance to eligible households that are in a crisis situation. Examples include a household that has received a 24- to 48-hour disconnect notice or service termination by its utility company or a household facing an energy-related crisis of life-threatening emergency in the applicant’s household, including a combustible appliance.

Eligiblity
To qualify for ECIP Applicants must: 
Be a resident within the Community Resource Project, Inc. Northern California region. 
Be low-income. 
Have a valid social security card. 
Provide current income verification (pay stubs for the previous 6 weeks). 
Present ID such as a driver’s license, California ID, and/or valid US identification. 
Provide pages 1-3 of current energy bill or 48-hour notice or shut off or provide a current receipt of wood, propane, home heating oil, or gas.

  1. Copies of all sources of income from everyone residing in your home for the last 6 weeks.
  2. Copies of your current utility statement all pages from SMUD, PG&E, Propane, Oil, and Wood bills.
  3. Copies of Social Security card and a State-issued identification for all adults in the household.
  4. Rental agreement or a receipt, or mortgage statement showing the rent amount, utility allowance and reimbursement payment. You will find this information on you calculation summary page or HUD-50059 form when you do a yearly certification with these programs.

Works to help families stabilize their housing by providing financial assistance for utility assistance. Eligibility is families and individuals in need of financial assistance to help stabilize their housing situation.

Distribution items for the Produce For All program are fresh fruits and vegetables. Clients receive 15-35 pounds of fresh produce per recipient. Food demonstrations, recipe cards, and nutrition information may be available during distribution. Clients are not limited to the frequency that they can go to these food distributions in a month. CalFresh application assistance and educational resources will be available during Produce for All distributions.

Description:

Acute and rehabilitative inpatient and outpatient services to children with complex medical needs that include orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, scars from any cause, cleft lip, gastro-intestical diseases, ano-rectal disorders, chest wall malformation and other surgical needs. Physical and occupational therapy, recreation therapy, on-site school, school re-entry program, pet therapy, assistance dogs.

In cases of spinal cord injury or burns, will serve patients throughout the Western United States, Canada and Mexico. Partners with emergency air ambulances to transport critically injured children and coordinates transportation for patients whose families cannot provide or afford transportation.

Any child under 18 is eligible for admission if child’s condition is within the scope of services provided. Care may continue until age 21.

Provides bicycles to those in need. Check-in time for overnight guests is from 5:30 to 6:45 pm on a first-come/first serve basis. Attending chapel is mandatory to receive services. Men can come in off the streets to get clean clothes and shower at no cost. Open to all homeless men even if not staying at the shelter. Toiletries provided.

Provides free legal services at Loaves & Fishes to homeless people relating to infractions and misdemeanors in Sacramento County. The legal clinic also manages court-ordered community service sentences for homeless people to pay fines in lieu of incarceration. Community service workers provide trash pick-up, clerical assistance, or may be chosen to work in the kitchen, garden, warehouse or are chosen for special projects.

Assists those who have warrants, or tickets. Guests with non-criminal legal issues who have questions can also talk to the volunteer lawyers. Assistance with criminal record expungement. Screening for eligibility for public benefits, health care, veteran’s assistance, and low-income housing programs.

Public Defender Clinic offered monthly. A Public Defender comes to discuss legal concerns with clients and then schedules them for the Loaves & Fishes court at Sacramento Superior. It gives a guest court representation with a lawyer.

Loaves & Fishes Court offered monthly. At this court appointment they are assigned the appropriate community service hours and a due date instead of a financial fine.
